For a frameless cabinet box. Enter the outside width, height and depth and the panel thickness. Get the cut list: sides, top and bottom, shelves and back, with sizes in inch fractions or millimetres and the grain direction. Then send the parts straight to the sheet layout. Free, no account, runs in your browser.
This page is for frameless box carcasses, the European style where the sides are full height and the top and bottom fit between them. It does not do face frames, toe kicks, doors, drawers, or stretchers in place of a full top. Those parts depend on your hardware and style, so size them from your own build.
| Part | Width, along the grain | Height, across the grain |
|---|---|---|
| Side (2) | Outside height | Depth |
| Top and bottom (2) | Width minus two panel thicknesses | Depth |
| Fixed shelf | Width minus two panel thicknesses | Depth minus the back thickness |
| Adjustable shelf | Fixed shelf width minus 1/16" (1.5 mm) | Fixed shelf depth minus 1/4" (6 mm) |
| Back, inset | Height minus one panel thickness | Width minus one panel thickness |
| Back, applied | Outside height | Outside width |
Check the first box with a test fit before you cut the whole job. Your hardware, joinery and panel thickness set the real sizes, and this page cannot see them.
It depends on how it mounts. An inset back sits in a rabbet and is one panel thickness smaller than the outside width and height. An applied back is the full outside size. Pick the option that matches your build in the Back field.
Measure it. Sheet goods sold as 3/4" are often a little thinner, and the width of every shelf and top changes by twice the difference.
It opens the Notchwork cut list optimizer with these parts already filled in, in the same units, and lays them out on sheets. The parts travel in the page address inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Run one box at a time and import each list. The optimizer replaces its list on import, so lay out the biggest job first or add the extra rows by hand. For a full kitchen of cabinets with doors and drawers, a design program is a better tool.
The Notchwork Cut List app for Android lays parts out on sheets offline, with a keypad made for fractions, and saves projects. This page's parts can go straight into the web version first.
